The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has come up with a new initiative to provide relief to individuals and households across Canada who are facing an increased burden to live with the increasing inflation and cost of living expenditure. The increase in benefit of 2.7 per cent for the year 2025-2026 will help Canadians to cope with the rising inflation.

CRA Benefits Payment Increase July 2025
As July 2025 is approaching, Canadians are all looking forward to an additional financial boost from the CRA (Canadian Revenue Agency). With increased day-to-day expenses and cost of living payments, individuals and households find it difficult to look after the basic amenities such as rent, bills, and utility bills.
Looking at these concerns, the CRA will soon release payments with a slight increase in the benefits from July 2025. The increased payment will provide support to households with low income, retirees, and temporary residents who are residing in Canada.

Though this year, the increase is comparatively lesser than the previous year’s increase, which was 4.7 per cent, but this slight increase will also make a great difference in maintaining the lifestyle and cover up the expenditures such as food, shelter, education, and transportation. Here is the detailed information about the CRA benefit increase for July 2025 where we will understand the eligibility, payment date, amount, and many more.

To qualify for this payment:

Singles | $519 | $533 |
Couples | $680 | $698 |
Child Below 19 | $179 | $184 |
However, you can maximize your payments by filing the income tax return, updating your information such as name, address, phone number, and number of family members.

Canada Working Benefits (CWB)
This benefit is designed to support low-income families by offering a refundable tax credit. CWB offers payment in three installments, that is, 50 per cent will be advance payments (July, October, and January,) and the remaining 50 per cent will be the income tax refund. To qualify for this benefit:
- You must be a Canadian Citizen for all tax purposes.
- Must have earned an income from employment.
- Must have filed a 2024 income tax return.
- AFNI is less than the threshold.
You will receive the first increased payment on July 11, 2025, and the payment will be distributed as: –
Payable to | Previous Amount | Current Amount |
Single (without child) | $1,518 | $1,590 |
Family | $2,616 | $2,739 |
Disability benefit | $784 | $821 |
If you wish to maximize your benefits, you must make sure you file the 2024 income tax return, and if you or your family member qualifies for the Disability Tax Credit, you must apply for additional CWB.
Canada Child Benefit (CCB)
It is a non-taxable benefit aimed at providing a monthly payment to households with children below 18. The monthly payment depends on your age, number of children, and AFNI. To qualify for this benefit, you must:
- Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent or temporary resident living in Canada for more than 18 months.
- Be a parent of a child below 18 years.
- Have filed the Income tax return for 2024.
You will receive the first increased payment on July 18, 2025, and the payment will be distributed as: –
Payable to Children | Previous Amount | Current Amount |
Under 6 years | $7,787 | $7,997 |
Between 6 to 17 years | $6,570 | $6,748 |
If you want to maximize your benefits, you must update all your information to the CRA, estimate your payment benefits by calculating the CRA child and family benefits, and if your child qualifies for the DTC, you will receive additional Child Disability Benefit.
Child Disability Benefit (CDB)
It is an additional tax-free monthly assistance provided to households that are raising their children with severe and persistent disabilities. To avail this benefit, you must be a recipient of the Child Care Benefit approved by the DTC and have filed for the income tax return for 2024.
You will receive the first increased payment on July 18, 2025, and the payment per child will be $3,411 annually, which was earlier $3,322. If you want to maximize your benefits, you must complete the form T220 and monitor your income, as the higher AFNI can reduce the benefits.
Old Age Security (OAS)
It is a monthly pension for Canadian resident aged 65 and above, irrespective of their employment background. The benefits are provided quarterly based on CPI. To avail this benefit, you must file the income tax return for 2024. You will receive the first increased payment on July 29, 202,5 and the benefit amount payable is as follows:
Age | Monthly amount |
Between 65 to 74 | $734.95 |
Above 75 | $808.44 |
To modify for benefits, you must delay your OAS past age, continuously monitor your income, and verify your Guaranteed Income Supplement eligibility.
How Does the CRA Payment Increase Matter?
With the continuous rise in inflation, the vulnerable low-mid income group individuals and households are getting affected and are unable to fulfill the basic amenities such as groceries, housing rent, and education. The annual adjustment by the CRA will assist millions of households across the nation.
Previously, the benefit was increased by 4.7 per cent, but this year it was limited to 2.7 per cent. Looking at the constant increase in prices, this small increase will also help individuals to maintain the cost of living. With the introduction of the new scheme for disabled individuals, the low-income group or individuals with disability are also assisted. This program will provide relief to single parents, employed, and disabled people to look after their expenses.
