Building Regulations

Moyle District Council, through its Building Control Department, has a statutory requirement to apply Building Regulations, which require reasonable standards to be achieved in the design and construction of buildings.

This should not be confused with Planning, which is dealt with under entirely separate legislation by the Planning Service, based at County Hall in Coleraine.

Building Regulations are there to ensure the health, safety, welfare and convenience of people in and around buildings and further the conservation of fuel and power. Regulations requiring accessibility to and within buildings, which now includes new dwellings, aim to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities.
