Dog Control
The aim of this service is to:
1. Protect the public and livestock from attack and annoyance by dogs.
2. Reduce the incidences of nuisance from dog fouling.
3. Promote responsible dog ownership through a balanced programme of education and enforcement.
4. Ensure that all dogs within the District are licensed and that the owners display the appropriate identification tags on the dogs.
To achieve this aim the following activities are exercised:
1. Seizure of stray dogs
2. Collection of unwanted dogs
3. Investigation of attacks on people and livestock
4. Destruction of dangerous dogs
5. Ensure licensing requirements are met.
6. Inspection and registration of Guard dog kennels and Breeding Establishments.
7. Enforce legal requirements in relation to the control of dogs.
