Marconi Festival

The event marks the work of Marconi, Kemp and Granville in 1898 when the worlds first commercial signal was sent from Rathlin to Ballycastle across Water.
Signals will be sent across the world on Sunday from mobile radio unit which will be located at the seafront. The Fire service will be doing displays and the coastguard will be promoting a safer sea journey while the PSNI will be displaying modern day policing equipment.There will be a full range of musical entertainment throughout the day including appearances from to include singing line dancing and Irish dancingThis year there will be a ball race on North Street where pink balls will be released at the top of the street with the winners receiving prizes sponsored by the Marine Hotel in Ballycastle.

Family Fun Vintage Day - Cushendall
This family fun vintage day will be held in Blaney's Field commencing 10.30am-3.30pm followed with Vintage Road Run through the village.
Live music all day
Attractions include toy tractor trials, sand pits, wood sculpturing, tractor threshing, straw baling, bouncy castle, large bouncy slide, mini digger challenge, pony rides, poultry display and much more.
Anyone with vintage machinery, cars, motorcycles, stationary engines or implements are encouraged and welcome to exhibit their machines.
Free transport is availbable from the Parish Centre car park at Chendall to Blaney's Field throughout the day.

This Annual Heavy Horse and Vintage Vehicle Show attracts entrants from far and wide to Ballycastle.

ENTERTAINERS COMPETITION

First Prize £100
Anyone with a talent for street entertainment is welcome to enter this year’s Lammas Fair Street Entertainers Competition. There are categories for both Junior (under 16) and Senior (over 16), first prize is £100!
The competition tries to encourage the development of
traditional street acts as seen at the Lammas Fair in days gone by.
This year’s competition takes place on the Monday 30 August, between 2-4pm only.
Buskers are also welcome to perform elsewhere during the Lammas Fair at other times, as in previous years, but will only be judged for the competition within the above times and places.
The area for competitors will run from the Quay Road Hall down
Quay Road to the seafront and will include all areas at the seafront.
There is no entry fee.

The Ould Lammas Fair - Ballycastle

Ireland's oldest traditional market fair. Its exact origin is uncertain but one theory is that it began as a result of the occupation of the area around Ballycastle by the MacDonnell's of the Isles in the early part of the sixteenth century. At the present day Fair, horse trading, street entertainment and market stalls attract thousands of people to Ballycastle.
